Tired of being sick and tired

Yes, I am a certified personal trainer. No, I am definitely not the healthiest of people. As a matter of fact 2009 has proven to be one of my sickest years ever. As I sit here with yet another virus, I am vowing to make 2010 my healthiest in years.

I have never been very healthy and the pictures of me as a child in my footyjammies blowing out my candles prove it. Back then it seemed to always be my tonsils. Once I hit my teens, it became migraines and stomach issues. I even took ulcer medication during my teens and early twenties.

I have always loved exercise and spent most of my childhood and teens outside hiking, floating the river, or just sitting on the porch watching the sunset. I must admit I am a bit of a carb addict and always have been, but I doubt that is where my illnesses stem from.

I was healthiest when I worked out of gyms full time. As soon as I went to part time, and started working office jobs again, back came the stomach viruses and migraines. Of course that is the time in my life when I became responsible for three children as well (one of time, thank goodness.)

I can't say I regret that I am a rather unhealthy person as it allows me to try all kinds of tinctures and tonics in hopes that I will find that one supplement that will boost my immune system so that I may help others in my situation. I have yet to find that supplement.

I have taken expensive vitamins, inexpensive vitamins, amino acids, green powders, and other immune boosting supplements. After speaking to a very healthy person today (my boss) and learning he doesn't take any vitamins or supplements, I have decided to set a different course in the whole supplement search. I am going to start drinking a tablespoon of all natural apple cider vinegar in water with a teaspoon of honey every night. I will start doing it now to try to make it habit, so I can begin testing the health effects in 2010.

I love weight lifting and notice a difference in my body right away. I've always dreamed of being a runner (my next blog) but somehow always end up sick as soon as I start to make progress with a serious cardio program, which is why I am sitting on the couch, home sick from work yet again. Yes, that includes the hardcore circuit training as well. I have even written a book about it titled, "The Personal Trainer Who Was Allergic to Exercise," for which I am searching for an agent or publisher. (So if you are one, or know of one...)

If you have any suggestions on how to accomplish my running goals without catching another freakin' virus, please let me know! I currently have a running program I am following and I three days ago completed the 4 minutes of running, 2 minutes of walking. Yesterday, I was to move on to the 5 minutes of running, 2 minutes of walking. But, of course the fact that I caught my daughter's stomach virus kept me from completing my run. I hope to hit it again tomorrow.
